GOP rep rails towards homosexual marriage ‘plaguing’ society in speech on Home ground

A Republican lawmaker who urged homosexual marriage was a part of a “plague” affecting society throughout a speech on the Home ground has sparked a fierce backlash on social media.

Rep Bob Good, of Virginia, made the biblical reference throughout a debate on Tuesday on new anti-domestic violence laws.

“Almost every little thing that plagues our society might be attributed to a failure to comply with God’s regulation and his guidelines for and definition of marriage and household.”

He went on to assault the invoice’s gender id provisions, claiming they’d “coerce faith-based suppliers… to violate their deeply held beliefs or cease their work altogether”.

The Impartial has contacted Mr Good’s workplace for remark.

The remarks drew a stinging response on-line.

“Not solely is that this fully false Rep Bob Good, that is grossly insulting to all survivors and victims of home abuse,” The Secular Coalition for America tweeted.

Creator Hemant Mehta wrote it was “particularly ironic” as Mr Good had beforehand labored as a fundraiser for Liberty College’s athletics programme.

“That’s Liberty U., the varsity identified for following God’s guidelines… and for repeatedly ignoring/dismissing claims of sexual assault by feminine college students.”

One individual requested how Mr Good defined supporting former President Donald Trump, “who personifies every little thing that the Bible teaches to reject like Greed, Indifference, mendacity, Dishonest, Adultery & betrayal.”

One other wrote that Mr Good was a “judgemental bigot who thinks faith has a task in politics to exclude and choose giant parts of our society”.

Whereas his opponent within the 2020 race for Virginia’s fifth Congressional district, Denver Wriggleman, wrote: “What plagues our society are idiots.”

Mr Good, who states he ran as a “Biblical and constitutional conservative”, has been an outspoken supporter of Mr Trump, and voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election outcomes.

In a press release to The Impartial, Mr Good stated he opposed the anti-domestic violence invoice HR2219 as a result of it could require “faith-based suppliers to just accept views on sexual orientation and gender id that violate their deeply held beliefs”.

“I imagine in God’s definition of marriage with out apology, and I’ll proceed to oppose any effort to additional undermine timeless truths concerning gender and life,” he stated.

“Democrats would fairly a Christian shelter not serve victims, than proceed to carry spiritual views that don’t align with their agenda.”
